We, at Net Vir Pret, are excited to bring this treasure of a bilingual, illustrated book, “Tales of the Elders”, to the public. It’s a compilation of stories from the people who were displaced to Smitsville from Barrydale during Apartheid. It recounts their struggles, daily life, laughs and woes.

Tales of the Elders is compiled by Net vir Pret interns with illustrations by Cherie Roe Dirksen.

This project was financed by a fund raising campaign, with major contributions from local Barrydale residents.
